Shantarupananda
Born in a town near Calcutta on May 2, 1945, Swami Shantarupananda joined the Ramakrishna Order of India on Buddha Purnima, May 15, 1965. He had his M.A. in Philosophy from the Calcutta University. He was the head of two educational institutions: Ramakrishna Mission, Cherrapunji, and Ramakrishna Mission, Along. He worked in two publication centers of the Order: Advaita Ashrama - the Center for English Publication, and Udbodhan - the Center for Bengali Publication.
In July, 1991, he came to the Vedanta Society of Portland, Oregon, as an assistant minister. He became the minister and spiritual leader of the center after the passing away of Swami Aseshananda on October 16, 1996.
